May 2007

Tracy and I had previous talked about doing a Ironbutt Saddlesore 1000 . But, because of time and tire restictions. We opted for the more tame State Line Tavern ride.

The State Line Tavern ride was the conclusion of the MotoScavy. It was a one day 520 mile ride. We had a couple of simple objectives to accomplish.

Objective #1 Kev had to prove to himself that he could actually finish a longer ride.

Objective #2 We wanted to deliver a copy of the finished Motoscavy DVD to Kelly, The bartender that helped us out.

Objective #3 I needed to do a field test of my new helmet camera setup and new Alpinestars drystar gloves.

Objective #4 Tracy had the sign the bathroom wall, (Kev and I had during the MotoScavy)

The ride itself was nothing much to write about, Kev rode his new Aprilla Mille for the first ''real'' ride. We headed out later than we expected and stopped at some of the checkpoints of the Motoscavy.

Riding through Talimena drive, We were moving at a pretty spirited pace. Around one corner there was an emergency vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway. On the other side was group of parked Harleys. Tracy was the lead bike and scooted through after hard braking. From what we could tell, one of the bikes in the group had went off the road. We slowed it down and just coasted the rest of the way.

We stopped at the State Line Tavern. Kelly did not recognize us. After striking up a conversation, she remembered us and we gave her the DVD. She thought it was pretty cool, Tracy put his name on the bathroom wall and we were on our way.

It was a great day ride, The camera worked decent, Kev and his bike finished, and my gloves cooked my hands. They'll be dedicated to rain duty only.

Stay tuned to this spot for the video of this ride..
